Shishio Improved 4/11/05
Shishio Improved is known for its intense bright red spring color, a color that holds well for several weeks. Fabulous spring plant.
Shishio improved has an intense red spring color unrivaled in the early garden. This color appears on the first growth of spring in early April, holds well and doesn't fade until late spring. This is a lively and colorful part of the maple garden, and it's a splendid specimen.
After removing a thicket from a canyon behind our home in 2003, we started learning about Japanese maples, became obsessed by them, and now have about 400 different varieties of Japanese maples. Each year we find new and wonderful varieties, meet other maple collectors and growers, and our garden has become a sensation.
