Wilson's Pink Dwarf is something of a chameleon. We've seen ours evolve from bright strawberry pink with yellow veins in late March to bronze/green leaves with green veins around April 10 to light green, bronze and pink leaves with lime veins by April 18. Changes seem to occur by the hour, drawing us to this tree constantly. It's a wonderful plant, though I wish it would hold its color a bit longer.
After removing a thicket from a canyon behind our home in 2003, we started learning about Japanese maples, became obsessed by them, and now have about 400 different varieties of Japanese maples. Each year we find new and wonderful varieties, meet other maple collectors and growers, and our garden has become a sensation.
